School After high school I moved from Waxahachie, along with my parents and brother, and went to community college then to Texas Women's University in Denton. I graduated with a BS in Interdisiplinary Studies specializing in Early Childhood. After teaching for 6 years in a private school, and trying Kindergarten and second grade in public school, I guess I was on my way to burn out! Even though I loved teaching and the kids, I decided to change directions and persue a Masters-PhD in Child Psychology at SMU - eventually having my own practice. That was a great plan until I was struck with health problems in 2000. It has been a long 5 years. In January 2001 I was diagnosed with a bladder disease called Interstitial Cystitis (IC)-depleated lining of the bladder with ulcerations, a disease of the urinary tract. There is no known cause or cure for now, but I hope to help change that. In June 2003 I started a support group/system - "IC Dallas", for those who suffer in the Dallas area.
